Laavan is a traditional Sikh wedding ceremony, which is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm. It is a ceremony that marks the union of two souls in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib. The ceremony is conducted in the presence of the Guru Granth Sahib and the couple exchange vows of love and commitment.
The ceremony begins with the bride and groom taking their seats in front of the Guru Granth Sahib. The bride and groom then exchange garlands and the groom ties a turban around the bride’s head. The couple then exchange rings and the groom applies a red mark on the bride’s forehead.
The couple then take four rounds around the Guru Granth Sahib, while reciting the four sacred hymns. After the fourth round, the couple exchange vows of love and commitment. The ceremony is then concluded with the singing of hymns and the distribution of sweets.
